Research Support
You many need specialized support while conceiving, conducting, and communicating in writing your research. Here at CastleBridge Research Consulting, we are committed to your success and provide additional support you may need along the way.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing is focused on the planning and organization of the project as a whole. Attention is given to aligning required components of the project (i.e., problem and purpose statements, research questions, theoretical framework) as well as chapters (i.e., introduction, literature review, methodology) and data collection instruments. During this early stage of editing that occurs at the prospectus and proposal stages, we will advise you on how best to respond to feedback received from your advisor and the Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Should you require basic editing for scholarly writing or style formatting services, we will connect you with professionals who can best support you.
Scholarly Writing Tutoring and Productivity Coaching
If English is not your native language, you may need the help of a writing tutor. Academic writing has a distinctive voice and tone. A writing tutor who specializes in scholarly writing is also of great help if you are struggling with adopting a scholarly voice/tone. Dr. Debra Fisher has combined these two needs by offering specialized scholarly writing tutoring for dissertation students.
Sometimes the demands of your personal life and professional commitments can hinder your writing progress. If this is the case, you can benefit from the writing productivity coaching provided by Dr. Debra Fisher. As a single parent and small business owner most of her academic career, Dr. Fisher consulted the works of critical intellectuals on their writing habits and amassed a collection of tried and proven productivity behaviors and techniques. She now imparts this wisdom to her clients so they can overcome hindrances to completing the writing of research proposals, grants, and dissertations/theses.
Transcribing Services
The primary method of data collection for qualitative research is the interview. Qualitative researchers "interview people whose experiences can illuminate the topic they wish to study" (Charmaz, 2014, p. 55).* Interviews can be conducted with individuals or groups in person or by way of audio conference calls or online video meeting platforms and are typically recorded with permission from the study participants. Qualitative experts describe interviews in terms of various characteristics, among which include "intensive," "structured," "semi-structured," and "open-ended." Just as varied are approaches for developing interview questions and protocols. Yet all qualitative interviews must be produced in a written form for analysis purposes.
Although voice-to-text technology is improving, human transcribers are still necessary for producing accurate research and professional transcripts. Professional transcriptionists are trained specific to their field, such as legal/court transcritionists and medical transcriptionists. The CastleBridge Research Consulting transcriptionists have received extensive training specific to academic research and the use of transcribing technology. Our transcriptionists perform above industry standards in terms of transcribing time and accuracy.
